I don't think there are many western games . . . the only one I've played was Red Dead Redemption - which was a great game BTW. Would play again. I think the whole Western thing died out before home gaming got big.

'Avoid' is not exactly the correct term. It's just that I'm really selective and careful when it comes to western game (mainly WRPG). Why, because most of them have performance/technical issues, especially freezing. Let's see... in 2012 there's X-COM for ps3, my goodness the reports were flowing like mad at 2K forum and here at GameFAQs. I can simply buy JRPGs and not worry about such things.

I don't really see a reason to come up with misconceptions about a game just because of the region it is developed in. I buy more games from the West though simply because Japan just doesn't do PC games.
I do dislike the anime art style however, and it gives me an initial bad impression simply because the art style has basically swallowed up everything and created a lack of diversity of art styles in general. But if the game looks good, I'll overlook it.
