C/D: The last great JRPG to come out was Final Fantasy X.

Anyone who confirms this is either a blind hater, or hasn't played an RPG since FFX.

Deny.

First of all, FFX wasn't that great (it wasn't bad, but the linearity and contrived story prevent if from being justifiably called "great"). Secondly, a lot of great jrpg's have come out since (Persona 3, Persona 4, Xenoblade, Valkyria Chronicles, Radiant Historia to name a few).

I don't think the first 100 posts answered the TC's question, guys. Keep going.

D. Although if you said the last great Squenix game, I would agree because I have hated everything they've done since.

Completely deny.

Other great jrpg's came out on the ps2 (SMT: Nocturne, Suikoden V, Persona 3 to name a few) and I'd list at least tales of graces on the current gen as a great jrpg (Though I wouldn't list ffX as one that's another story.)

Despite FFX being my favourite game of all time, there have been good RPGs since. The Last Story for one at the very least.

As for people saying Valkyria Chronicles, there is no way I'd call this a JRPG. It's my favourite game of this generation, but it's a tactical RPG. Apart from the grand story, it shares little with the typical JRPG.

D. PS2 ended on a good note with Rogue Galaxy, complements to level 5.

PS3 has a few good ones, Demon/Dark Souls, Resonance of Fate, maybe a couple of others worth mentioning that aren't coming to mind. A;so, Valkyrie Chronicles and the Disgaea series if you're into strategy RPGs

EDIT: Actually PS2s last good JRPG might have been Persona 4, I can't remember the release dates. Well I preferred Rouge Galaxy anyway xD

D. Nier was an excellent game with an incredible story and characters
Combat wasn't the best but that was easily overlooked due to the sheer quality of everything else

D, absolutely not. If you haven't liked any JRPG released after FF10 as much as FF10, I cannot argue your subjective taste, but there have in reality been many, many, many great JRPGs after FF10's launch.
