Everything included, canon or not, Kojima-made or not.
MG (NES) - 4 Poor gameplay and a poor port in general. MG (MSX2) - 6 Archaic gameplay and lack of plot in-game. Snake's Revenge - 5 A perfect recreation of the original MSX 2 Metal Gear engine, but the game itself was terrible. MG2 - 9 Near perfection in all categories, despite a clearly rushed ending. Considering it was 1991, this game was incredible. MGS - 10 Perfection. That is all to be said. Ghost Babel - 8 A good throwback to MG2, though I disliked it being level-based instead of a continuous environment like all previous canon games. The Twin Snakes - 6 A buggy mess that was promised to have a lot more content than it did. Crazy cut-scenes aside, the game was a glitchy mess and the controls were terrible. Voice acting and most of the music was also atrocious, but it certainly had some stellar moments here and there. MGS2 - 7 Disliked the 007-feel and the over-the-top anime/sci-fi vibe, and the villains were terrible. Document - 10 For a Special Features disc, this sure had EVERYTHING. Substance - 8 The extra content was insane. So much extra stuff. MGS3 - 8 Better than MGS2 gameplay wise, but the story was bare and the characters sucked. If the normal gameplay wasn't so intense, it'd get a much lower score. Subsistence - 9 MGO made this what it was. Also, the new camera was great, especially when it could be returned to the default camera at any time. MGS4 - 7 MGS3 all over again, but with linear levels and very little gameplay. Boring as hell, since you had to crawl everywhere if you didn't want to play it like Syphon Filter, and the Retcons killed the plot for me. Characters were also among the series' worst, and the game just fell flat in every way. Portable Ops - 6 Terrible controls and the game just wasn't fun to play. Peace Walker - 5 This was barely a stealth game, and really didn't seem like it needed to exist.
MG - 5/10 Snake's Revenge (not a real MG, but will list anyway) - 2/10 MG2 - 8/10 (for it's time it was 10/10 though) MGS - 11/10 MGS:TTS - 9.5/10 (despite enjoying the gameplay a lot more than the original the cut-scene direction in this was just horrible) MGS2 - 12/10 (no typo) MGS3 - 9.9 MGS:PO (incl. PO+) - 8.5/10 MGS4 - 10 (some gripes aside it's still an amazingly fun game with great production values and a lot of replay value) MGO - horrible community/10 MGS:PW (PSP) - 7/10 MGS:PW HD (PS3) - 9/10 MG:GB - 9/10 (10/10 for a GameBoy game) MGA - meh/10 MGA2 - meh/10 MGS: Touch - whybother/10 MGR:R Demo - 7/10
