They already have. The PS3 super slim, one of the version has 12gb. Only in Europe though, I think.

That's exactly what the 12GB model is meant to be. It's just limited in availability (at least at the moment).

Ps3 is already cheap as hell. I paid 600 for my first one newest was 300 that's already half off. If you can't afford it you don't need to have it as a hobby. Should rethink what you are spending money on.

To be honest, I'd say that even shrinking it down to 12Gb is bad enough. You'd have to play games 1 by 1 (which I personally do anyways, but for different reasons), and the fact that they've released this model around the same time as Day One Digital is incredibly strange.

12GB is currently the cheapest HD console in Europe.

It hasn't hit the states yet because Sony are holding it over to counter Microsoft real price drop next year. Sony won't be dropping the price of the PS3 in the US again until it's discontinued.
