Why do gamers with a huge blacklog buy games when they have unplayed ones?

I (and surely a lot more ppl), even having a dozen games waiting to be played, buy some new games out of pure anxiety. It's a big problem, one I struggle to control, but it is just how it is. Same happens with books for me.

1. Limited editions.
2. Niche-ey games that may only have a limited production run.
3. Anticipation for a game beyond anything in their backlog.

If none of those three are satisfied, sure, I'll wait until it's cheaper.

This is it. All 3 of those reasons fall under me.

Well... I don't have a huge backlog. I only have around 4 unfinished games. However, I bought 8 new ones this Christmas and I'll be getting many more as I get more money because there are so many games that I'm interested in. Perhaps I won't even get to them or complete them for a long time, but as long as I have the game in my possession, I'm good.

Eh I'm super guilty of this, I probably have a backlog of at least 10 games right now. A lot of times a good deal is just too good to pass up - like walking dead the other day for 10$ total.

I contribute my backlog to being such a completionist takes me forever to finish a game.

1. Because i am not a child who needs money from mommy and daddy to buy my games.
2.Because i like varity and may not want to play that one game i bought right away.
3.Sales! when i can get alot of games cheap at a certain time why wouldn't i load up.

Could be a bunch of things...I have a backlog of over 200 games...

I buy games because:

Steam sales (The big culprit)
Pre-order bonuses/Anticipation for a new game
Gifted to me
Find a nice sale
Buy something to play with a friend

I'm pretty sure at this point my backlog will never be depleted :(

Some people are just idiots. There will always be good new games being released. There is no point in buying things that you have no time to play since you just leave them behind when you die.
