2012 was definitely the year for RPGs!

What is your idea of an RPG?

Does it have to have anime characters?

Oh yea it can only be turn-based to right?

Wait no I'm wrong maybe it has to have the name Final Fantasy written on the cover?

If a game doesn't fit this criteria does that mean its not a RPG?

"They are both RPGS!"

No. Borderlands 2or 1 is an FPS with very very minimal RPG elements.

You call Borderlands 2 or 1 an RPG, you'd have to say all Call of Duty games are RPGs. They are not.

No I wouldn't have to say CoD is an RPG.

Borderlands 1, and 2 IS A RPG THOUGH.

Explain how. What, because of Skill trees? The token system in BL2?

Please. Do explain. Would love to hear this.

I'll give you a short list
4 different characters all with different abilities that can affect your gameplay
Open World experience
Long Campaign
Side Quests
Lots of Weapons
ROLE PLAYING AS ONE OF FOUR CHARACTERS
BattleSystem is ala FPS
BA Ranks
Exoloration
Vehicles
Character Customization
Weapon Variety
NPCs
ect

I know it hurts you, but Borderlands a RPG

My god.

Grant Theft Auto is an RPG too!! I'm so blind!!

You cannot switch characters in BL 2. Games are capable of having Open World, long campaigns, side quests, lots of weapons, PLAYING A CHARACTER, Ranks, Exploration, Vehicles, Customization, Weapon Variety, NPCs, blah blah blah and NOT be an RPG.

Like I told TC, you might as well start calling the Call of Duty games RPGs as well, they have a lot of that stuff you listed there!! :O

Hell, like the other poster said, everything is an RPG now!!!

Oh, no, right, you said I can't be serious on that, yet you're mocking the fact that an RPG is a specific classification of a game and has to have certain elements to be considered as such.
