They're all sports games. This is why you don't buy sports, they become worthless as soon as the new version comes out.

I think the point is that all these games had required online passes in order to play, and now they are shutting the servers down.

It doesn't matter if they are sports games or not, people bought the online passes to play online and now that EA has their money, they are shutting them down.

It's stupid and should be called out. Where is the incentive to buy new and support the game when you are just going to get a big middle finger a year down the road?

ahah!

someone posted a topic about sports games a while ago and now i remember why i really stopped playing them. each year's game is shoveled out and then abandoned.

they also shut down servers on a lot of other games like LOTR CONQUEST which would still have a bunch of people playing and would make ea money. ea used to be one of the best game companies. oh well.

i remembered seeing an article about an EA rep saying they made the online pass due to server costs, well this completely invalidates that statement now.

1) you didn't pay for the online pass if you bought the game new
2) if you buy second hand EA sports games, you're practically asking for it

EA, forcing only online multiplayer...then taking it away from you later. Even if it had a pass. GG, gaming industry.

As far as I am concerned, once they kill the online for a game, all online trophies/achievements should automatically unlock. I'm not a trophy hunter, but it's poor to make your games impossible to complete for no real reason.
