How about a house? A car? How about a game console? Controllers?

How about we make it so you cannot buy something for another person, ever? You can't lend/trade/borrow/gift, nothing, everyone buys for themselves!

When that happens we will discuss that but its not and will never happen but consoles unable to play used games might be happening

Go be a politician then. You may have no sense of the value of a dollar, much of the world does though.

If Sony did this, Microsoft should do the opposite and profit

Yep. The first console to lock used games WILL die.

They're all coming out next gen with this technology. The writing has been on the wall for over a year but you've all been livin in denial

If that is true, I'm out. Been playing video games for 25 some odd years, and that is the line. Our "culture" if ou will has always been about "hey can I borrow that game?" or "want to trade games?" and taking that away is just wrong IMO. No I am not poor, far from it, but so few companies these days make games worth $60, it's about value. Make a campaign more than 4 hours and you've got my interest.
Besides, I own dozens of PS3 games I havent even played or even unwrapped, lots of games needing plat or 100% so I don't think I'll really miss anything. If I stopped buying games right now, I have YEARS worth of games to keep me occupied.

i totally in favour of it... i hope next gen sony and ms both lock out used games

used game sales hurt so much more than piracy... whats worse is developers dont see a cent in used games sale (hence, why sony is taking this action... if it wasnt a big deal, like ps2 days then no one would even think about taking such drastic actions)

Used games hurt more than piracy?! with a Used game store people have jobs and the store pays taxes on the sales of the games and the workers pays their taxes.

Piracy, No money is transfered no taxes are paid

Right now I simply hope that this tech Sony has only applies to their own games they published or to the Store to stop game sharing, this will end up being bad for sony in the end

I just don't care to be honest. I have never in my whole life traded or sold a game. I don't buy used either.

I don't normally do that either. I PREFER to buy disc based games new when I can. But Sony and/or M$ have no right to take away the consumers' right to choose whether they want to have used games or not. They also have no right to force customers into what in practice amounts to a lifetime contract for each new game purchase--one bought you're stuck with it forever.

Sony's little stunt about them wanting to lock out used games is an outrage and I would expect to receive universal condemnation from gamers everywhere. Yet who are these people coming out IN FAVOR of locking out used games? Seriously, there is no good side whatsoever to such a move and plenty of bad. Suppose you pay $50 for a new game, and you decide you want to sell/trade it? Just too bad? IOW, if you pay for a new game, you're essentially forced into a lifetime ownership contract. So if you are not happy with the game, you cannot sell it or even get a refund; you're just stuck with a $50 coaster.

I dont think a new next-gen game will cost $50 so the coaster is more expensive. Regardless of what people say, many have a hard time to deal with diversity... there is a whole collection of pejorative crap arround to classify what is is different.

Dont buy used. I find it hard to justify paying $50 to gamestop and not the developer. I wait for price drops anyway. I say let it happen.
