Physical copy or digital? Which do you prefer?

Digital.

I look forward to the day when I can do this with my console collection: http://i.minus.com/iN3pRg3PRBFih.png

Physical. You don't really own a digital copy, you're just paying to use it.

Physical

Although I don't mind digital and have no problem downloading when it's the only option or significantly cheaper than a physical copy.

Digital all the way. Discs are nothing but clutter and plastic. I'm paying for the experience, not whatever physical format the publishers decide to slap it on. This "you don't really own a digital copy" argument doesn't hold water under any real type of scrutiny that doesn't involve wearing a tinfoil hat. I'm guessing all you people who say that are not fans of Playstation+?

Physical because sometimes I like to bring the games over to a friends house you know. Some of us have friends

Ha ha, yep.

I would think those that come from a PC back-ground will more likely to favour Digital, while those from a Console background will more likely to favour Physical.

But there is something quite special about knowing you can start up any of potentially hundreds of installed games, any time you want, without even having to give a single thought to finding the case and putting in the disc.

Ironically, with digital you're probably more likely to play your older games simply because you have that convenience of starting them up without any additional effort.

I can give a specific example to support this: I have a game called Chime: Super Deluxe on my PS3 that is a tetris like rhythm game. I absolutely love playing it now and again, and you can play out a level in about 5 minutes.

Sometimes if my wife and I plan to watch a movie we've hired. she'll go off and have a shower first. I can just fire up the game, play a level or two, and be done before she's finished. It's a game I might only play two or three times a year, but when I do, I don't need to look for discs or anything else. I can have it started almost as soon as I have the PS3 on.

That's just one isolated example though. In general, Digital is just more convenient. And for me, in my spare time, I'm all for convenience.

Please support the gaming industry that both you and I love by choosing to play your games legally.

Well, it is more of a lack of compromise. I'd rather own a physical copy of the game over a digital, but they are rather expensive, at least in my case and in my country. Digital distribution services like Steam, always come up with great deals which sometimes makes me consider purchasing the digital one over the physical copy.
