I highly doubt that you guys were like "Tomorrow is gonna be my 17th birthday, I'll finally be able to play my first rated M game, yay" when you guys were younger. So why was it okay for you guys to play the likes of Mortal Kombat, GTA, Manhunt and Doom and when the kids of today play games like Call Of Duty and Halo it's suddenly wrong?

I think it depends on the kid. Some kids are mentally mature and won't try anything violent and stupid they see in games. Some kids would and should stay away from anything that could push them to act.

Maybe because the realism has been upped a tad... could you imagine playing a mortal kombat game with the realistic art direction of the original using todays horse power? It'd be rather disturbing.

I dunno, MK is so inherently zany that a more realistic style might not change too much. That said, Noob's Wishbone from MK9 made me cringe, so who knows.

I turned 17 in 1984. My ColecoVision didn't have any "M" rated games.

I'm not against kids playing M rated games, I'm against parents purchasing M rated games for their kids, and then complaining about it being inappropriate for children.

We will never know TC. But I agree with you 100%

When I have kids I won't use any parental control or be like the FCC.

My kids will play GTA as soon as they can hold the controller. They might even watch porn and get all excited like the kids in that direct TV commercial about porn.

This. Stupid kids taking advantage of their parents, and the parents expecting the kid to be basically parented by the game.

And also kids who can't control themselves and be polite online.

I was old enough to buy my own M rated games by the time the rating system came into effect.
You are hallucinating. Seek help immediately.
