mgs2 had the best cutscenes. solidus's intro tops all.

It sure does.

Anyway, not sure which boss battles I prefer. It's tempting to say MGS3 as The End was awesome, but once you know how to beat him it quickly loses it's appeal (like laughing octopus).
The fight with The Boss is also memorable but not that fun (similar to MGS4's final fight).

So if I eliminate those fights and concentrate on fights that I enjoy on multiple playthroughs then I guess I enjoy thesw ones the most-

MGS1
*psychomantis
*Grey Fox
*Hind

MGS2
*Harrier
*Ray

MGS3
*Ocelot
*Volgin (Shagohad)

MGS4
*Crying Wolf
*Rex vs Ray

So I guess MGS1 wins.

MGS2.

The bosses in it had the most story relevance

Like, they'd show up multiple times throughout the game, establishing their characters outside of death speeches. The only exception was Fatman

To be fair, there it had a smaller cast of enemies, but I felt that it benefitted the story and the experience of fighting them, since I'd grown to have some opinion of them before encountering thin in a battle

Hard to say honestly. Most of the battles are pretty fun and creative. I'll do a Top 4..

- The End (MGS3)
- Metal Gear Rays (MGS2)
- The Boss (MGS3)
- Vulcan Raven 2 (MGS)

4. The final boss of 4 is one of the best boss battles of all time if you ask me. I mean, how many devs would go so far to completely change the gameplay just for one boss battle? Freaking epic. Plus the way the music changes and stuff was just awesome

I really loved the pysco mantis boss fight. God it was frustrating at first since i had no idea to use the other controller. A friend told me about it since he had the guide book. MGS1 was really the first game to create an epic feel to the boss fights.

Yea they did. Unlike mgs3 which had almost 0 relavance besides "being a trump card". Their designs seemed rushed, all their backstory was is "they were wwii heroes". They were just in the game to be boss battles & nothing more.

That was always my biggest gripe with MGS3. I'd love the prequel staring the Boss that Hideo was interested in making. If only to flesh out the bosses in MGS3.

MGS3 had the best boss battles, but the worst boss characters.
