FFXIII is worse in that regard.

The post above yours kinda explains why X is less offensive to all of your senses.

Also, you know what the **** is going on in X. Good luck with that in XIII.

Why people couldn't follow 13 or 13-2s story is beyond me. They weren't even that complicated or hard to follow O_o all you had to do was read and remember and it made perfect sense

I'd say the minimap has a part to play in it, it makes it even more noticable than it already was.

FFXIII does have towns.
The only difference is that they're also dungeons.

FFX had a minimap too though.

It's funny that X was similar to XIII, the irony of it all. I'm honestly not even that worried about towns considering the plot.

I enjoyed 10 and 10-2 as well. 13 did disappoint me. The battle system is a couple steps backward from 10-2. I had almost no idea what was going on most of the story, especially at the final boss. There's only like 2 stats in the game. To me linearity was the least of the problems.

Cocoon is easily one of the most boring locations in a Final Fantasy game ever. The explanation for it makes it sound epic, yet you never actually get to see or explore the place.

You just run through it.

You do more interesting things in Midgar for 10 hours than the whole boring 40 hours in Hallway Cocoon. Massive, massive opportunity wasted.

I enjoyed FFX immensely.

FFXIII not so much. But hey, it's pretty cheap (I saw it for $9.99 somewhere), so you might as well try it.

No why because FFX has an airship to go to older areas anywhere in the world exception Bevelle. Which makes the game less linear due to that.

XIII is the ultimate hallway FF why because it suffers from the COD syndrome, remember there has to be a balance between linear and non linear areas and 90% of XIII is hallway linear.

Young heroes between the ages of 12-17 make RPG and other video games better then older heroes 18-21 and over.
