Lockheart34 posted...Sonic Adventure 2?
I was actually after Sonic Adventure, but that's close enough.
Here's what the clues refer to.
Hint 1: This game was a real graphical showcase back in its dayAs a launch title for Dreamcast, Sonic Adventure featured the most detailed graphics to date.
Hint 2: It's also on GamecubeThis is where I tricked you. You were supposed to assume (incorrectly) that this would mean the game is also on PS2, but it isn't. Sony didn't get this game until PS3. Incidentally, I mentioned Rayman 2 is similar, in that it has a PS2 port despite being from the previous generation.
Hint 3: This game is much darker than its predecessorFairly obvious, the theme song says it all:
"Ancient city blazing"
"Shadows keep attacking
"Little children crying"
"Confusion, hopeless anger!"
Hint 4: This game features a very controversial minigame which some like better than the game itself and others totally hate. This refers to chao raising, which some people desperately want back in new sonic games while others are very happy it's gone.
Hint 5: Despite being one of the most technically advanced games at the time of its release, it's also extremely dated in some ways.Sonic is very much a product of the early 90s. He has a typical cool, rebellious attitude, just like the millions of other mascot characters from that era like Bubsy and Earthworm Jim, and he hasn't really changed at all since then. You could also interpret this in the sense that Sonic Adventure was pretty dated by the time it released on PS3. Its camera is very primitive, for example.
Hint 6: This game is a 3D Platformer. It's also extremely linear.A frequent criticism of the 3D Sonic games is that the (good) 2D games have multiple paths through each level and the 3D games don't.
