Let's say someone plays RE6 and was new to horror, chances are it will scare him/her.

Now let's get a person who is a veteran in horror, chances are most things will not scare him anymore because it's all been said and done.

____________________________

Now let's say said person was a vet to horror, but does find RE6 scary in the monster design while some may not find it all scary.

Now let's say said person was a newbie to horror, but finds the RE6 monsters comical rather than scary.

You guys can try to make up any type of person, and you will get different results. It's just a matter of perspective and experience. People complain about the state of horror games when there is nothing wrong with them at all. It's just your personal opinion.

As I said in another topic regarding Dead Space:

You know, I hate it when Dead Space topics get made, because there are always the people who say "that game wasn't scary".

To you it might not be scary, but for a lot of people it was, and that's all that matters.

Another thing, people need to start realizing that horror does not necessarily mean scary. The two things are not always synonymous, and once people realize this, they will enjoy horror games much more.

The old RE's weren't that scary, either. It's more of an issue with the Hollywood Blockbuster gameplay of the new ones.

I think developers should get away from cheap thrills and action movie horror and get into Heavy Rain gameplay with horror setting, or a game with subtle gameplay but really scary images with a deep plot/engaging story.

I get tired of seeing every "horror" game being shoot this, walk here, dumb story line that makes no sense.

I think the classic teenager killer, serial killer, getting hunted, things like the movie "The Strangers" etc. would be great video games.

Some games just have better horror aesthetics, better audio suited to unnerving players, more appropriate pacing for horror media and gameplay that isn't action saturated to the point of undermining horror or making players overpowered.

amnesia, dead space etc trouncing RE5/6 easily with the minority thinking otherwise.

This is Gamefaqs. When someone makes a topic complaining about a game, there is fairly good chance they have never played it.

Nightmare on Elm Street doesn't scare me. But I'm not about to put it in the comedy section. That's a horror genre. Resident Evil 6 didn't give me any scares but it's still a horror type of game.

Same. I wouldn't say nothing scares me, but it's a very rare occasion when something does.
