guns, because i would get them illegally anyway, as would half of the US. Who would enforce a law no one would follow?

It's simple, make the possession and ownership of guns punishable with life in prison. Then you'd think twice about owning one.

This is stupid. A ton of things can get you life in prison, it does not stop people from doing it.

Do you honestly think people would care if such a law was passed? Hell no, if anything our prison population would quadruple overnight.

Firearms are banned in my country (Denmark) and we have almost next to zero gun violence and killings because of it. So I would ban the guns.

Same, except replace denmark with united kingdom

And the official government figures showing a 53% reduction since the okd 2003 article

So yeah, the ban is working very well to curb gun crime thanks. :)

Guns really should be the thing that's banned (or at least more tightly controlled).

Games provide an outlet for violent thoughts and anger issues. Which is contrary to the belief that they cause violence. In the few cases where they have seemingly caused violence, there is an underlying psychological issue.
The belief that games cause violence is actually the problem, as when a belief is strong enough, people produce/perceive the results they expect.

Guns however by nature are a tool of violence. I may not be American, but I know enough about the US constitution to realise the true intent of "the right to bear arms". The US constitution (including the second amendment) was drafted at a time when the US didn't have a well established military, and as such the right was required in case a militia needed to be formed to defend the states from an attacking force.

These days such a requirement is not necessary and the US has to adopt tighter gun regulations.

The 2nd amendment was not supposed to be a stop-gap measure until military might was established. You will not find any real support for that view among the Founders.

In fact the Founding Fathers didn't like the idea of a standing army at all. The military was supposed to come together in times of war and then disband until the next war.

You don't know anything about the right to keep and bear arms. It's all about freedom from Tyranny.

When your kid gets shot just because some unstable person had his "right to bear arms" maybe your view will change...

You don't need guns to protect yourself, firearms possession should be limited to law enforcement only.

Here's one from 2009, which only reinforces the steady increase in UK gun crime over a decade from 1999 to 2009.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1223193/Culture-violence-Gun-crime-goes-89-decade.html

About 11,000 gun crimes in England and Wales in 2012 if I got my math right according to this article. I don't know how more if you include the rest of the UK. But again, this just reinforces the fact that gun crimes are on a steady increase.

http://www.politics.co.uk/reference/gun-crime

Here's a little something about UK and AUS gun control, and how it doesn't really work.

So, I'll ask again. How's that gun ban working out for you?

I know what you are getting at quite well, it's just I simplified what I wrote so it may be easier for the less educated to understand it at least in part. Not everyone is capable of grasping the greater truth.

Pretty good. I've never seen a gun or even heard of one being used within 100 miles of where I live.

Guns. I don't know how America let itself get the way it did but I'm sure as Hell glad I don't live there.
Kid was sitting in her house watching Spongebob and got hit by a stray bullet. She wouldn't have been hit by a stray knife.
If you really want them, leave them in the hands of the Police. Just because people would get them anyway is no excuse to make it easy. We don't let them have child porn at the newsagents or meth at the chemist. Because if we did that'd be ****ing terrifying.

All your children are poor unfortunate victims of systems beyond their control, a plague upon your ignorance and the gray despair of your ugly life.
