FFX whether you believe it's a good game or not basically foreshadowed the extremely linear moviegame that was ff13.

X and X-2 also had rather unlikeable main characters.

Sakaguchi and Uematsu had left. Im sure there are others who left during that time as well.

More likely than not, Square was going off the deep end independent of the merger.

No they are on a decline. They've reduced their library to primarily FF & DQ and FF XIV was a severe embarrassment and cost them millions of dollars. Thats why we are getting these rushed cash in XIII sequels. When the head of S-E says the future is in smartphones and consoles will be gone then you know they are drinking the crazy juice.




The problem is when Wada rose to power in just 6 short months after the merge. He sucks and he is an idiot. Then there is Toriyama who is a hack. Finally there is Watanabe who couldn't write himself out of a paper bag.

13 sold well purely on the fact that it was FF. Many people, myself included, blindly believed in SE and FF and wanted another FF title that when it was finally released, of course we threw our money at them *laughs*

The massive drop in sales numbers from 13 to its sequel is all the information that needs to be shown to see that it was a fluke and sold well because it was FF. I know a lot of people like 13, and a lot of people also hate 13, and they were pretty vocal about it (again, myself included)

I didn't bother with 13-2 and I'm not bothering with 13-3 either.

What is that supposed to mean? I bought FFXIII and think it's terrible and judging by the massive amount of hate and constant discussion of the "Fall of Square/SE"....I'm not the only one.

Well-received? By who, a minority of gamers. XIII-2 plummeted in price in the blink of an eye.
