I stay away from the realistic stuff like Call of Duty/Battlefield but enjoyed:
Resistance (favor FoM and 3, but 2 is still good) Borderlands Bioshock Singularity The Darkness (especially 2) Portal The Unfinished Swan Rage Fallout (I only play in first person because I can't stand the running animation) --- This signature will not change until I change it. 7/03/09

The Unfinished Swan is a first-person shooter! You're right!

Borderlands 2 and Far Cry 3. Not much else worth playing. Maybe Bioshock (good story, gameplay is terribly generic though). --- DmC, Vanquish, Sound Shapes, Mass Effect Trilogy, Disgaea, Valkyria Chronicles, King's Field, Far Cry 3, Monster Hunter FU, Chrono Cross PSN: DocDelicious

I'm recommending Crysis 1 to you. It's 20$ on PSN, and a very complex, yet straightforward game.
You get different sandbox levels, where you can basically do whatever you want. There are dozens of ways to get to your goal, at least for the first half of the game.
It's also very interesting due to your super suit. You can become invisible for a few seconds, put on heavy armor or run really fast. Or you can punch people into high hell.
Or you can pick up a chicken and throw it really far. Or a turtle.
It's a very unique game with an action flick story that is very entertaining. Absolutely one of the best FPS games I've played, and I've played a lot of them.
