Batman: Arkham Asylum - It was decent, nice story and voice acting but the combat, while not bad, was very boring. Mash a button and win. No depth no variety.
Dragon Age Origins - Eh, good story, but too much voice acting. I want to play the game not listen to a friggin merchants life story. Boring combat, nothing really makes you feel epic and positioning Rogues is a nightmare.
Dark Souls - So disappointed with this game, this one I really thought would be awesome. But there's nothing fun about dying all the time and re-doing the same section over and over. I don't even feel epic when I overcome these challenges. But I only made it to the red dragon so far, I will not judge the game fully yet.
Am I too picky? Maybe I've been gaming too long and I've been spoiled by PC gaming.

This is why I don't like suggesting games to people. You sound like you're just finding one thing within each game to blow out of proportion, and in the case of Arkham Asylum, you may not have understood what goes into the combat.
