"With regards to the Tales franchise, we've never made an effort to 'westernize' it. We feel that Western developers are good at certain things, while Japanese developers are good at other things. Rather than us trying to copy Western developers, we really try to look within ourselves and try to improve ourselves. The Tales franchise has been a personal struggle to better ourselves and the franchise."

-sorry for the copy and paste format. My browser's copy paste sux and some of my phones' keys are broken.

I totally agree.

Instead of creating travesties like DmC, they should focus on their own strengths and their own talents. We need variety.

Japanese developers shouldn't turn to Western developers for anything. This East meets West thing is what's killing the industry.

I think I bought the wrong console this gen.

Thanks for the topic, but I feel this is just made up or a massive wrong translation. I`ve followed Tales media a bit here and they`ve never really said anything regarding westernizing it nor making too big of a change out of the Tales` past games.

This. While I agree that Japanese developers should stick with what they're good at, Tales games aren't known for being westernized in any way.

Wow, I love this Baba guy. I saw that one video interview with him at that gamer convention, and the guy is a breath of fresh air. If only more of the main people in the video game industry were like him. That guy cares about his product and cares about his fans and cares about his video game series staying true to their roots and giving fans what they love about the series they love.

This guy stated the main thing that I have been saying for years, and the exact problem that is wrong with the JRPG genre and Japanese devs in general, for the most part.

Video game companies could learn a lot from this guy. That article made me so happy that I bookmarked it.

Squeenix left quite some time ago and has not been back. I don't expect them to return ever either. Squeenix are traitors and have let their fans down, and they have let Final Fantasy down.

Good idea, they should stay in the past while the rest of the world innovates.

Oh wait, that's what they've always been doing
