How did NNK not do well in Japan

???? This game is literally a love letter to Japanese gaming, strange it will probably do better in the West than it did in Japan

-The existence of the DS version, which is pretty much the exact same game. (and sold about 600,000 copies to date)
-Japan prefers handheld gaming at the moment.

It does not matter when handhelds are now vastly more popular in Japan than home consoles. The 3DS has already sold more over there than the PS3. The PS4 is probably doomed to be a system will even less JRPG's than the PS3 (except for games targeting a Western audience like Dark Souls).

Because Japan loves Call of Duty more.

They only buy things like Call of Duty and the 360.

I thought the DS version was only the first half of the story. The DS version's final boss is about halfway through the ps3 version.
