Not to be too divisive, but a lot of Western games already have gay/lesbian characters. Maybe it'd be new for Final Fantasy, but it wouldn't be a big deal in the context of gaming as a whole. --- In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

Don't particularly care about the orientation of my main character as long as the game is good. As pointed out above gay characters aren't that new any more or controversial, at least to the comely populous.
