Why do people say FFXIII is just "mash x" ?

The majority of battles in 13, you can literally just mash X and spam the same attacks again and again as fast as possible and kill many of the enemies. Even boss battles you can do this. That's not to say that you can't pick and choose different things, you can, but in older FFs, if you just mashed attack attack and ignored everything else, you'd be likely to die. Not so in 13, especially since your health and everything recovers after a battle. XIII is completely beatable by holding forward and hitting X a few thousand times. Sure, you don't have to use autobattle but it makes no sense not to 90% of the time. That's an absolute complete load of garbage. You can in no way get thru XIII by just "pressing X" 90% of the time. People love to use this theme for the game because it's apart of the it's hate bandwagon when they know darn well it's not true. EVERY OTHER FF uses "X" just as much if not MORE, (actually they do use it more) then XIII does. carsauce Posted 1/24/2013 10:24:30 PM	At first I did not understand this at the time, then you realize Auto is there, and then it jus plays as movie and then switch back and forth=) and just concentrating to get the enemy to break=) Easy peasy FFXIII gameplay. --- Someday, someone will walk into your life and make you realize why it never worked out with anyone else. -anonymous

Yeah, I know how to play it. Pulling on a push door until you eventually get it open doesn't mean you know how to use it. Oh you, so cute. The point is, the "random" encounters in FF13 can mostly be beaten by just hitting X. COM/COM/COM or COM/COM/RAV is all you need. Very few enemies REQUIRE staggering. And even then, fewer of them have any resistances that require more than one RAV. You lot defending this game as not being incredibly simplistic are really odd. Must enjoy those hallways as well. And I didn't say I went through the game only hitting x. I said it's possible. lrn2comprehendamigo
