here is what it looks like

is that enough ventilation?

As a collector, I suggest you stand all of your PS3 games. Don't lay them down like that.

if that will be better ventilation. I rather risk my 360 then my precious ps3. lol

That's plenty enough mate. You have no need to worry about that.

I agree, it's plenty of ventilation. I have less on the sides of mine and it's fine.

Contrary to what WantedOutlaw said, modern consoles do fine in entertainment units so long as there is sufficient ventilation around the system.

I hope so, but not if it contains the heat. I did notice that the shelf was warm after i was done playing for the day :( crap i hope i didn't ruin it.

You didn't ruin it. It is perfectly normal for wooden surfaces to absorb some of the operational heat from electrical devices. It never builds to any damaging levels though.

That would actually be worse, there is very little ventilation around your XBOX 360, if anything that is what you should be moving.

So the way i have it now is fine?

Also, why should i not have my games lying down?

That looks like plenty of space to me (for your PS3). Not sure about the games being layed flat though idk what that poster means.

That other poster, talking about laying the games flat seemed like just a paranoid collector. It doesn't matter whether you lay them down or stand them up, neither way does any harm. Typically the games are stored laying down in the warehouses anyway.

Going back over everyone's posts, not just my own, the overall verdict seems to be that your set-up is fine as it is. There was just one poster WantedOutlaw, who had no real clue about ventilation requirements of current-gen games consoles.

Since your set-up seems to exceed the minimum ventilation requirements of the PS3, you will be just fine. No need to worry.
