Games, RPGs in particular, would be a lot better with rap music

#241coconutarmy1Posted 1/27/2013 12:22:51 AM
Maybe a stylized game. NOt necessarily something fantasy, but games in the vein of The World Ends With You and Jet Set Radio do good with rap. If it's an rpg, it would definitely need some rhythm elements, or at least fast paced fighting to match the music. Also the lyrics might have to be nonsense or very simple to allow for the transition between countries.

See, there's a problem with this topic title. It uses the phrase "rap music". Clearly this is an unintentional oxymoron. Besides, shouldn't such malodorous noise be reserved for the horror genre?

yeah and no, rap belongs no where near rpgs, unless by rpg you mean rocket propelled grenade, then maybe, but rpgs usually have emotion, rap doesnt. Metal i whole heartedly agree with especially for fight scenes, considering metal is like anger and rage in musical form. Rap is simply get munny bang b!tches. Horrible.

I don't even understand how "Drake" got to be so popular. He's just that little crippled kid on the Canadian teen drama Degrassi. I'd be embarrassed personally >_>

The amount of people that hate rap without actually knowing anything about it is too high. They always make the same tired arguments as well.

1. "I hate it because it is repetitive" - This sometimes come from people who like video game OST and they're mostly repetitive.

2. "I hate it because its lyrics" - Well, its like I hate "Superman" because he CAN FLY! Rap is oriented to those kind of message.

3. "I hate it because it don't have guitar riffs" - Again these are mostly coming from people who like video game ost and well, how much video games ost have riffs?

4. "I hate it because it have no sense" - I bet they make less right now.

5. "Because is don't have a beat punch that makes me move" ... Im sure this kind of people are 8.

6. "I hate it because it's not music" - Let's see now Music: an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. That is the definition of music. Rap meets the criteria. So whether they enjoy rap or not, it IS music. That is a FACT. They don't have to like rap but now you cant use the argument that "it's not real music"

7. "I hate it because all it talks about sex, drugs, money, bling-bling and say insults" - OK, I have an idea... LETS HATE SLIPKNOT! cool, right? or Korn, or Rammstein, Sum41, American head Shot. So rappers like Will Smith, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, Outkast, and A Tribe Called Quest talked about that stuff? News to me...

8. "Because is boring" - Well, then Classical music sucks then right? How didn't see that Beethoven was an idiot! Thanks! I'm not saying Classical music is boring, is just that is not that kind of music I could play at a rave party. And I needed am example for mostly people who just have half brain (or even less).

I think people who are getting angry at people for disliking rap aren't being rational. To be fair the most popular rap songs happen to be crap like this...

Also I think you "fans" don't know the different between rap and Hip hop. Rap is horrible emotionless music that berates woman and puts selling drugs and "gettin' money" in the limelight of what's important about life. Nas' song One Mic is an emotional push to explain the horrors of growing up in the lifestyle he chose when he was a young man. That is Hip Hop.

True. Most of the mainstream stuff on MTV, VH1, BET, Radio is complete trash these days. There is good rap out there right now but its just hard to find. However the problem is is that most rap haters judge the entire genre on songs like the video you just posted or songs by 50 Cent or Lil Wayne. That's ignorant and irrational right there.

I'm sure most rap fans already knew this. Especially ones born before the late 90s.

Anything is horrible if you judge it's most popular form.
