Why do they keep saying they will get rid of used games?

It really dosent even sound possible, I mean every now and then we all buy a game we dont like, or loan one to a friend what have you, how Inconvenient for everyone is this gonna be if it did happen, and what will become of game rentals? several stores offer trade ins and thats alot of buisness just to be flushed... i dont understand the logic behind no used games. It sound like a pretty stupid move

It's incredibly stupid move. People don't fully grasp the layers of fallout it would have and seem to think that GS/EB are the only used retailers and then mindlessly hate on them without even knowing how they work with used games no less :/

It's actually kinda sad. And then they compare it to pirating for some stupid reason and it devolves into uneducated people making uneducated claims >.>

they wont be able to get rid of used games.

GS and gamefly alone would take them to court to block it as it would cause both to close down.

Plus millions of gamers alone would sue over not being able to sell the game when they are done.

As well as millions of games no longer being bought as people would be stuck with a 60$ turd they cant sell off, they would just skip tons of games and only buy ones they are 100% sure they would keep.

It certainly wouldn't cause GS to close down :/ would hurt their business ya but not enough to close over. Not to mention all the small business that rent out games and sell used games. Especially if they are the only system that does it everyone would just buy the other systems instead O_o

So, if Sony went DD only, you think people could successfully sue?

Because used games dont benefit Sony you lending to a friend dont benefit Sony renting a game dont benefit Sony trade ins dont either Why should a company care about money there not getting a cut from and if you buy a game that you dont like which it seems most do then thats your fault

GameStop benefits Sony greatly. They are the largest game retailer in the U.S., therefore, they buy the most games.

Game companies have been trying to ban second hand sells and game rentals for decades now, Nintendo was very notorious about this, and Sony, Nintendo, Sega, etc have basically made selling used games Illegal in Japan though many have found ways around it. Now they have the ability to do as they have always wanted, and to stop the practice out right via technology. Sooner or later, they will get their wish.

Potentially yes they could. If they filed it as loss of livelihood and get a decent lawyer they could certainly make a good case out of it.
