It has to be Ultima. Pretty much the most influential and progressive series ever.

Does anyone but late 80s/early 90s computer geeks even know what it is? Computer gaming before windows 95 was totally niche. Most people didn't touch it. I don't think Ultima reached a very wide audience as a result, so I'd argue that it can't have been "the most influential and progressive series ever."

If you've played an RPG, chances are it was influenced by Ultima.

Also, I'm pretty sure most gamers have heard of Ultima Online.

Polite conversation should never include Politics, Religion or what constitutes an RPG.
Playing a game for it's story is like watching porn for it's story.

Chrono shouldn't be on there it is 2 games and one is horrible polarizing.

Play Cross again. It's definitely a legit direct sequel.
