Mmos can be drastically different kiddo so if you dont know better than stay out of the topic until you know better. FF11 is considered very different then WoW while SWTOR is more like WoW

FFXI was a masterpiece. I'm looking forward to the FFXIV reboot. It's moving in the right direction. I'd rather SE waste money on this than on games that never come out.

They're turning XIV into a Warcraft clone, is that the right direction?

Wow...was waiting for some one to say that. How the hell is it a clone? Do you even know how combat takes place? How classes and jobs are done? This game is nothing like WoW. Every mmo that has come out since wow some ignorant fools always say "Omg its just another WoW clone." Way to be apart of the trend and not actually look up facts.

Look at this guy. Look at how angry he is. Just as I said, FFXIV's fanbase consists of people with mental illnesses and social anxiety disorders.

Oh and it is a Warcraft clone, sorry if you find that hard to deal with. Producer himself admitted it in one of his lovely letters. Got a beef? Take it up with the guy running the game.

They're the same thing genius, they're both FF MMORPG's that take place in the same realm. All MMO's are similar, to say one is ripping off another is just ridiculous.

Somebody put this guy out of his misery.

a. They don't take place in the same realm. They don't even take place within the same time period. FFXI takes place in Vana'diel and FFXIV takes place in Hydaelyn. FFXIV takes place in a more technologically advanced time period.

b. All MMO's are not similar. Believe it or not, there are some that don't feel the need to ripoff a certain MMO in order to succeed. FFXIV on the other hand is not that kind of MMO. FFXIV already failed once, and Square isn't going to risk another failure by creating a unique and original MMO. So instead, they're going to ripoff Warcraft and take the safe and easy path.

c. Like the guy that can actually read already told you, I'm talking about FFXIV, not FFXI.

Will they actually listen to the beta testers this time?

Yes, that's actually the problem. They're listening to too much of the feedback, and they aren't implementing any original ideas. It's a game built from the ground up on player suggestions and Warcraft game mechanics. The game itself has no identity and the developers have no vision.

That was pretty awful imo. I liked how natural the questing system felt in FFXI.

The difference between FFXI and FFXIV is that the quests in FFXI really served no purpose other then to tell a story the rewards were not worth doing at all usually gave a crappy item or small amount of gil offered no exp and they were very vague on what you needed to do almost to the point people always used online guides to figure out what to do. FFXIV has the new style of mmo quests, kill X mobs, collect X items, and its used as the main way to get exp. So they have a bunch of flavor text that has you going around each zone to kill some mobs collect items, ect, they aren't big on story because they need hundreds of quests for the leveling process.

The quests in FFXI were amazing.

Maybe the reason why the objectives were so ambiguous was so they could encourage teamwork among the community? FFXI probably had the best, most tightly knit community of any MMO I've ever played, due in no small part to the fact that the game always encouraged you to work together with other players, rather than to solo a bunch of XYZ quests to the level cap and then grind endgame until you die of boredom. Gosh, really can't wait for FFXIV.
