I'm beginning to think this is just another ignorant troll who thinks that their opinion = fact and won't hear otherwise :/

Oh well I stopped caring after saying the Arland Series was "moe-bait" and spitting in the face of Mel Kishida and the writers for the Arland series.

I haven't played any of the Arland games extensively but hey, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.and obviously I'm ignorant as ****

Fixed the end for you

All I know is, there aren't enough games like Ni No Kuni, and far too many games like Cross Edge.

Except Atlus ports. Your argument is now invalid

Should ports really count? Besides, I've never really seen Atlus localize any serious JRPGS besides Radiant Historia.

Radiant Historia is probably the worst Atlus developed game I've played in the last 10 years. It's still an awesome RPG but EO and SMT(and Persona) games are much better. I don't know how those games aren't considered serious RPGs.

TC, it's because it's because HD consoles are too expensive to develop for, so the developers went to handhelds.

as an avid JRPG fan. this gen hasn't had quite alot of decent titles throughout the years. Though NNK sucks. it's overrated. no offense I rather play star ocean 4 with the horribad dub over NNK.

The Japanese VO in that game sucked just as much as the English dub.

NNK doesn't look like a terrible game, but it isn't anything I plan to run out and buy. It's made by Level 5, right? I've never been a fan of their games.

You too huh? I thought something was wrong with me cause of the fact that I thought Dragon Quest VIII was bland. :/ It wasn't so much the outdated battle system, just the characters and story felt very 1 dimensional to me.

I was spoiled because of games like FFX, FFX-2, and the Xenosaga trilogy. Fast, flashy, and fun battle systems set the bar pretty high for turn-based RPGs. I still enjoy older titles from the SNES and PSX, but games like DQ8 are just not enjoyable, no matter how pretty.

I could not agree more with the last couple of statements here. It just seemed like they put the basic structure of a game in, slapped a coat of paint on it, and shoved it out the door.

This pretty much sums it up. Most of the hate is from graphics nuts.

They're not localizing the great, traditional JRPGS that we WANT to play! Instead publishers like NISA and Aksys give us moe/loli junk that no hardcore RPG gamer truly cares about.

lol hardcore RPG gamers get out of your high horse and JRPGs are like they are probably because they kept being traditional for sooooo long why do you think Final Fantasy changes with ever game? so that people don't get tired of playing the exact same thing over and over again
BTW:NISA had good game like Disgaea

Here's my two cents:

The reason game genre is in its current state is because the trends among the gaming market ebb and flow. Something might be real popular this generation, then might totally suck the next. It happens. NES era had lots of platformers. When the next generation hit, RPGs started to grow a bit more in popularity - but still populated a lot by platformers. When PS1 generation hit, RPGs took over more of a role after FF7 came out - they damn near exploded. When PS2 hit, the focus started to shift more towards shooters and action games. This generation, it's an even larger focus on shooters and action games.

Eventually RPGs will become popular again, although "when" is probably anyone's guess. They probably need that "one game" that's like FF7 to ignite the industry in that direction again - without it, then they'll probably stay where they are about now.

Again, just my thoughts on it.

I said this gen correct? This gen, Radiant Historia is their only originally developed JRPG. Also, those series you just mentioned? I don't really consider them true "true" JRPGS. EO is more of a dungeon-crawling, rouge like game with no real story-line and the SMT games all take place in the modern world! Being stuck in modern-day Tokyo instead of the traditional Medevil or other fantasy worlds with WORLD MAPS does not a JRPG make, or at least not a traditional one.

i actually kinda like moe/loli games, why is it bad to unwind from all the badass space marine and huge sword wielding knights and just sit down and play as a cute little schoolgirl for once eh? is that a crime? LOL

I'm, though they need some kind of unique hook for me to really enjoy them, but I guess I'm pretty unique in that I can play Black Ops 2, Madden 13, Dark Souls, and Hyperdimension Neptunia all in one day and have a great time with each one.

XBL: Beasts Inc; PSN: DeadlySilence

That's stupid. Plus the EO games have storylines(especially 3) and aren't anything like Roguelikes. They are pretty much as opposite as you can get.
