Just for PS3 games. This needs to happen. Think about all the games you have now and the HD collections that brought some ps2 games to ps3. It needs to happen. I'm a Sony fan boy but if you don't bc this console I will leave you.

No BC is a total fail at this point, with digital and everything especially. No BC = No buy for at least 2 year

If you have a lot of PS3 games then I hope you have a PS3 to play them on.
In no way does it NEED to be BC. Look at the 360.
It's a nice feature, but in no way a necessity.

This. Why waste the money being an early adopter if I can't even play my old games in the meantime? If it isn't BC then I will wait until PS4 games are worth playing on their own. TBH, a PS4 that played PS1-PS2-PS3-PS4 games would literally be the best console of all time, IMO.

At least it wont be like the PS2, in that it will be noticeably better looking on its successor console since it can be plugged into HDMI and you can use smoothing. PS3 is already an HD console, so it wouldn't be a huge difference.

It's very unlikely. Putting in PS3 parts would raise the price of the system significantly because of costs. If Sony does put in PS3 parts, it's 100% likely they will remove it in a revision when PS3 sales slow down to drop the price. Because it won't be worth manufacturing PS3 parts just for the PS4

BS. The 360 is proof that it is needed. But not handled as poorly as what MS did.
