PS3 Slim Problems?

#1Ricky_in_3DPosted 2/3/2013 8:55:49 PM
Heya. I had my PS3 (First Slim Model) for quite some time now, and I've noticed some changes after a while of inactivity...

For some reason, my PS3 will always ask for the date and time if I disconnect the power source. It doesn't matter if it's off or not; if you disconnect the power source, it will ask for the date and time.

Along with this, themes will be corrupted (unless I'm logged into PSN) and will be changed to the default theme if I disconnect the power source. This was bothering me for a while and I was hoping if there was a solution.

I have tried to "restore default settings" or to "fix corrupted files" (I'm not sure what exactly it's called, but it was an option in the recovery mode."

No, I didn't drop my PS3, or turn it off while it was saving or updatng, but it has frozen on me a couple a times, forcing me to turn it off. If that helps.

Thanks a ton for the help.

Could be the internal battery (assuming these still use one, the phat one did), or the hard drive itself.

Let's go with the hard drive, and try to rebuild the database...

If the PS3 keeps on asking you to set the date, it means the CMOS battery inside the PS3 is dead.

You should NEVER disconnect the power cord. This is probably why your files are getting corrupt. You should hold the power button to shut it off. ONLY disconnect the power cord if it has froze up that much.
