I'd like to see the sales figures. With as much praise as its getting, it better not be below 500,000.
It will probably sell around 500-600 thousand copies combined in all Regions, which of course means amazing sales (especially if you also add the 100-200 thousand japanese copies).
Add the DS sales too in japan, and Project Ni No Kuni is a massive success that easily warrants a sequel / turning into a franchise! :)
A perspective to understand what this means.
Xenoblade only managed #5.
Ni No Kuni managed something only FINAL FANTASY games do. Regardless of sales numbers.
The point, is that achieving such a feat in the current state of gaming in the UK is nothing to write home about, because it wouldn't have happened 6 years ago.
No other Console RPG ever achieved it outside FINAL FANTASY.
It's sold out everywhere.

It was also topping #1 in Amazon for the past weeks.
It is everything to write home about.
And had it come out 6 years ago on PS2, it would have sold tons more with a 150 million install base + 6 years of selling legs, and gaming community being way warmer towards Console RPGs than today.
LEVEL 5 (with two DRAGON QUEST installments worth of experience) + Studio Ghibli + Joe Hisaishi = Hype.
Add the GENIUS Wizard's Companion and the Console Pokemon experience that never was to the mix, and yeah 'nuff said.
