Obviously you're new to RPG's if you think 40 minutes is a while to get going.

Keep playing. Eventually you will have a huge world you can freely explore.

Been Playing RPG's as long as i can remember although some of them never get much better in the combat department

Then why would this surprise you?
Anyway, the combat gets very strategic. You have to be really focused to beat many of the bosses.

Ni No Kuni is not an 80-100 hour game. Don't exaggerate. It is a 40-50 hour game.

And TC, Miyazaki had practically nothing to do with this game. The story was written by Level-5.

Lol, I JUST got my 2nd Party member and I'm almost 29 hours in. A friend told me I'm around 3% in the game.

Just because you run to the waymarker doesn't mean we are not immersed in the world of a game.

And of course Miyazaki didn't have anything to do with this game. Studio Ghibli does.
Miyazaki vocally hates gaming and technology (oh the irony), and has long been surpassed.
He's a grumpy old man, and a relic of the past now.

wait to judge until you're actually playing the WHOLE game

"Oh man, this game sucks"

"Wait to judge it until you've beaten it! I don't care if you hate every minute of it!"

I never beat FF13, but I got to Chapter 11. I played most of the story, and hated the new combat mechanics. Are you going to tell me that my opinion doesn't matter because I played most of the game, but never finished it?

the best review of anything is after one has experienced it wholly.

if one hasn't experienced something in its entirety (experienced by spectating or participating) then their impressions are still only partial and not complete.

Wrong. At least play the game first.

No one knows just how much input he had.

I like how you just read a few things online and then tell everyone what you read. Good for you man.

Miyazaki really had nothing to do with Ni No Kuni.
He is a genius, has created unrivaled masterpieces, but he's THE biggest hypocrite (alongside Sakaguchi) EVER.

He openly hates on gaming and technology, yet he based his success on... Anime and technology. -_-

That doesn't mean anything though.
Studio Ghibli (aka what counts) was involved and Ni No Kuni is awesome! :D

It only takes about 6 hours to get your second party member. I can't imagine how you stretched it out to 29.

The game does have a slow start, and 40 minutes without gameplay is enough to get worried about it.

Thankfully, yes, it does get much better in a reasonable amount of time.
