Why cant more developers make good games like Sly Thieves in Time?

Everything about Sly 4 oozes with fun. The open wold design feel like giant playgrounds you can go around pick-pocketing and climbing just looking for collectibles and you can go around them with characters that all play differently. Then there are the actual missions, they all feel fresh and are constantly changing things up so you dont get bored. Gameplay is so tight and fluid it just never feels boring as you keep progressing through the game, Sly's costumes added a new dimension and the new combat moves you buy are great.

Really, why cant more games be like this? Instead developers make a game where you walk from point A to point B doing nothing but shooting, and it's so rinse and repeat. Sly 4 is a shining example of how games need to be

I've never been much of a platform gamer and I've never played Sly before, but this game is just so much FUN. Glad I broadened my horizons.

Don't want shooters? Want colorful platformers? Nintendo, generally.

Yeah, devs want everything to be so dark and mature now. But Wii feelsgoodman

I try to be humble but I complain too much.

I've started to look for the ability to jump as being the mark of a good game. There are exceptions, but a game that lets the player jump generally has to put more thought into the level design than most.

Plus, jumping is fun. All by itself jumping can break up the usual monotony of running around in a level.

I didn't get this insight entirely on my own. Some reviewer's discussion of jumping in Journey made me think about it.

I wish they picked a different release date for Sly 4. It has no chance against Dead Space 3.

Except Sly 4 is a horrible travesty of a "game." Looks and plays like it's from 2003.
