I started playing it two nights ago. It plays as a standard third person shooter, except you've got 3 AI squad mates who are actually very useful and clever.
The thing about it though is that it feels highly strategic. It's a bit deeper than a mindless shooter, you're encouraged to take your time an make calculated decisions, and you've got a variety of quite sophisticated tools and weapons to do so.
Don't get me wrong, it has mindless shooting sections in there as well, but really this game caught me by surprise. It's got to be one of 2012's most overlooked titles.

I disagree. The setting bored me and bare plot and lame characters didn't help. --- My Resident Evil 6 Review| My XCOM: Enemy Unknown Review http://bitly.com/Z2CT6n | http://bit.ly/RJGjrn

I bought my copy a few weeks after it came out. It's definitely at the top of my list for "fun games to play when friends come over". It's a blast even to have two people playing the swarm mode. --- "Fantastic baby." Currently playing: R&C HD Collection, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, and Assassin's Creed III

I liked its gameplay. The CoD meets Gears of War mix felt really good. I played a lot of the MP when it first launched and enjoyed it thoroughly. --- Eluveitie greatest Band Ever, So "Get Da Folk UP!!!"
