So that brings about a whole mess of issues. Like why did he take that job thinking he could actually pull the trigger? Laguna was awesome though.
Yeah, it was a horrible scene that shouldn't have ever been included and had surprisingly little impact on the rest of the story aside from the whole Matron plot line. It just happens that a single scene doesn't ruin all of the good things in the game up to and after that point. If it killed everything for you, then that's unfortunate.

I like both, but FF8 was more enjoyable for me. I liked the majority of the story and characters. Junction+drawing wasn't as annoying as other people have made it out to be. I liked it so much I bought it on PSN as soon as I got my PS3.
The FF sale is great, though! I'm picking up 6, 7, 9, and Tactics.
