The bugs were first reported by the news site Game Front, which subsequently posted a video online showing how they worked. Dead Space 3 News of the exploits did not take long to spread online
One involves the player's character walking into a specific building, picking up an item, walking out - and then returning to find a new item has appeared. This can be repeated an unlimited number of times.
The other requires the user to go to a different destination, to pick up an item and then to select save and quit before returning to the game.
...one solicitor told the BBC that the practice became "legally grey" once micro-transactions were involved.
"If you go into a baker's to buy a bun and they give you the wrong change and you walk away knowing you have been given more change than you handed over in the first place, that's theft," Sara Ludlam, an intellectual property expert at Lupton, Fawcett, Lee & Priestley told the BBC. Dead Space 3 Buying in-game content lets players spend less time having to hunt for hidden in-game resources
"So, arguably if you go into this game knowing you are supposed to be paying for these weapons and you notice a glitch allows you to accumulate them without paying, that's theft as well.
"But it is arguable because it's a new area."
lol. How long do you think before they patch this exploit? --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKk-9lPMQZ0 --Car boot and pigeon **** |
| The problem with her argument is that the game is designed to not need the DLC ANYWAY...how can you steal something the game already gives you? All the DLC does is let you use it earlier. --- HOCKEY'S BACK! GO PREDS! WELCOME BACK TO SMASHVILLE! PSN: Lord_CBH / Live: LordCBH |
| Seriously? I think this is where Micro-transaction will be a problem.
Had there not been a 'Micro-transaction' this would simply be labeled "Cheating" and maybe even added to the cheats section of the games page. --- I play a lil bit of everything on a lil bit of everything. Not changing this until we get a Viewtiful Joe 3 or HD collection of VJ 1&2 (started 8/14/12) |
| I for one am glad, they shouldn't of released microtransactions alongside a glitch that would do such a thing. Also lol at the 'theft' accusation, its not theft, its the stupidity of EA. --- PSN/Wii U: GuiltyPersona Official Foreign JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken #1 Fan Playing: (PS3) Shin Hokuto Musou, New game coming soon (WiiU) MH3GHD. |
| The bun and change analogy doesn't really hold up, since there is a finite amount of physical money in the world. Taking extra money is at someone else's expense.
Should that person have not used a glitch then that extra item would never have existed. I don't quite understand how it could be considered theft if you're not actually taking the item from anyone's ownership.
I'm neither supporting nor condoning the action, I speak purely from a outside perspective. --- Check out my investigation into 7th generation exclusives here: http://rustygamer.wordpress.com/ |
| Kenaue posted...The problem with her argument is that the game is designed to not need the DLC ANYWAY...how can you steal something the game already gives you? All the DLC does is let you use it earlier. This. It's just like any other exploit in any other game. Is duping items in Dark Souls stealing? What about duping in Disgaea 4? What about the Golden Key exploits in Borderlands 2? All exactly the same thing. It's just that, in this case, EA is pissed because now people don't need to buy their stupid bulls***. If they weren't charging for these items (which is a f****** crime to begin with) they wouldn't give two s**** if anyone found a way to dupe them. --- Ni No Kuni, Vanquish, DmC, Sound Shapes, Disgaea 4, Valkyria Chronicles, Need For Speed: MW 2012, Far Cry 3, Monster Hunter FU PSN: DocDelicious |
| It's the same effin' glitch that was already a part of Dead Space 1&2. To leave such an obvious thing in multiple games just seems like an on purpose thing. --- And now for something completely the same. |
| Lol remember when games used to have cheat codes, these days you have to pay for the advantage now... --- PSN: vericco: Not changing this sig until Tottenham Hotspurs win the premier league. |
| I hope everyone who has DS3 uses this in it's entirety and completely f**** the micro-transaction garbage. |

Game devs are butt hurt that they're trying to take advantage of a system that's been in place for years and they f***ed up with securing it. Fix it and stop crying. --- "Fantastic baby." Currently playing: R&C HD Collection, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, and Assassin's Creed III |
