Be honest. What do you truly believe they will take break?

Break - 2 to 3 years of no CoD

Why take a break from selling 15 million copies of the same game a year? They are making serious bank off stupid consumers.

As long as millions of morons will keep spending $60 bucks on the same game every year it will never take a break.

I think Guitar Hero is a good example to look at here, since it's another franchise Activision milked, oversatured the market, and killed.

We're going to need a really good contender that steals away a good share of the customers (like Rock Band to Guitar Hero), as well as people just getting sick of the formula in general due to oversaturation.

So I think it won't be until at least 5 years AFTER a good contender appears. And that itself hasn't happened yet. So it'll be at least 2020.

I have a feeling that the FPS genre as a whole will taper off sometime around 2017.

The Activision cycle; they're doing the same with Skylanders - bet there will be another one after that recently announced 3DS one.

The thing is, CoD sells like no other game before, it'll take a long time before idiots stop buying the same game forever.

To quote a local player of CoD and WHY they buy each re-release:
"Because the new ones always got better graphics."
