if so then that is amazing, I just experienced my first online gaming on facebook games, and its both frustrating and good.

Not really free...

Some games you have to buy first, but then you can play for free....

Some other games you can even get for free(DC Universe comes to mind).

I know the basic deal of buying a games for the console, what I meant was for the online game's free multiplayer supports and stuff.

and by facebook games I meant for howzat cricket where I compete with others online, a nice experience, I might get addicted to online gaming in ps3, just to show off skills and win against most. and I know facebook games are cheap flash games.

If you mean kind of like Xbox Live/PSN, yes, it's free.

If you mean MMOs, yes, there are but they have micro-transactions.

-DC Universe Online (This is a game you play when you're bored)
-Dust 514 (It has a promising start, there isn't a lot to do but they will release updates that will add things like territory control, it also interacts with EVE online)
-FreeRealms (haven't bothered and never will)

There is a F2P section at the PS store.
