On PS3 in the distant and not too distant future we have these notable games release (as far as I know, possibly coming out worldwide. This is just speculation):

Tales of Xillia
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

Possibly:

Tales of Xillia 2
Kingdom Hearts HD Remakes
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Persona 5 (Persona 3 and 4 were released on PS2 after PS3 launched)
The Last Guardian
That Suda51 game
The Phantom Pain

What else? How did PS2 get treated after PS3 was released? What were the notable games besides both Persona games released on PS2 after PS3 was released?

What's PS3's future after PS4 comes out?

Nope. They'll just completely ignore and drop it completely. Just like they did with the PS2.

Developers are not going to completely stop catering to a system with an install base of 60 million users.

That said, the people who buy the "AAA" games that cost 40 million dollars and 2-3 years to make (Call of Duty, Mass Effect, Halo, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Uncharted etc etc) tend to want them on the latest (and most powerful) hardware available.

In short it'll be just like the PS2. Large franchises will make the move. You'll still get smaller titles, sports games and ****** ports on the PS3 for a while..

did the ps1 get support after the ps1 was out?
this isnt microsoft..

this isnt micro soft.. sony isnt expecting 99% of the PS3 users to get a PS4 on day one.. heck or even 50%

PS2 was still doing better than PS3 for years after PS3 came out and Im sure the same will be said about PS4 especially if its gonna be 400+ in THIS economy? lol

PSP is still getting new games, although a lot(maybe most) of the servers for PSP games no longer exist for online play.

I'm guessing not many people actually check the karma count on topic creators, especially with a topic worded like it is ...

I highly doubt that projects in development are simply going to be abandoned, but there is a possibility the game could switch to PS4 development.

That said, i think development costs are going to define whether or not we will continue to see support. Unless it gets very cheap very fast i'd say it won't get as much support as the PS2 got with the exception of PSN. I think DD games will be the main life support of the PS3 with the occasional big name sports games.

Oh I do all the time, I just play along. But even karma doesn't mean much, you have to take into consideration that people with that high a karma amount are probably spergs who are dead serious about what they're posting.

It's not so easy to just dismiss anything as trolling anymore. These people are for real and we sometimes wouldn't even know it because we've become to accustomed to assuming it's not.

Well that was because the PS3 really really sucked until around 2008. On a successful hardware release, there is no expectation that you immediately sell as many consoles as the predecessor, but there is an expectation that software sales will, in aggregate, eclipse sales of the former generation in relatively short order.

The games people buy is a big difference between a successful release (PS2, 360, Wii, Dreamcast) and a failed one (PS3, wiiU, Vita). A poor release can make or break a system, though there are plenty of examples of systems with good releases that later failed (Dreamcast) and poor releases that went on to later success (PS3).

That said, I'll never understand why console makers don't release systems with massive day 1 1st (or 2nd or 3rd) party exclusives. How many more units would the WiiU have sold if Zelda HD had shipped at the same time? Would people still be talking about "Giant Enemy Crabs" if the PS3 had released along side Metal Gear Solid 4??
