Will next gen consoles require 4k res TVs?

#1zaiwenPosted 2/11/2013 6:31:15 PM
Will PS4s & the next Xbox require TVs with 4k resolutions to truly appreciate the graphical leap of next gen consoles? Or is it just a future proof feature? & that by default 720p or 1080p will be a standard among the consoles?

It will just be an option you can take no requirement though.

At the most maybe the PS4 will be able to playback 4k movies, when they start coming out, there is no chance the hardware will be able to play games at that resolution, however 1080p is pretty much a definite

we'll be lucky if every game runs 1080p and 60 fps, yet people think its going to take advantage of of 4k

I highly doubt the next gen consoles will be able to output in 4K. current ones barely even do 720p. At least on the PS3

So many people just bought new TVs. They won't be a requirement.

TV resolutions go by size now. 4K is irrelevant at this point since it's only beneficial to screen sizes over 80 inches so really unless you can afford a 50,000 dollar tv AND have the room for it or have a projector made with 4K in mind, 1080p is going to be the standard for a while (most television broadcasts aren't even full hd yet).
