The gameplay for the first HDN is kind of iffy, the second one is solid. I've never played Arland.

Arland, it has the best synthesis/crafting system in any RPG. Never liked Compile Hearts here.

Arland, probably should just jump into Meruru. Not my favorite games ever (the time aspect of them tend to aggravate me to no end). But I do find them more enjoyable than HD.

minus the first game, really fun battle system. Really fun take on the video game industry.


I've only played Totori but I have mostly heard it's the best of the three Arland games. I know the focus of the isn't battle, but it's incredibly basic. The synthesis was pretty good and gathering and collecting items were fun for a while, but it just got old really fast.

Good luck trying to find a copy of Meruru though. They seem to be sold out everywhere. I've been trying for a while, cheapest price on eBay has been $80.

You're going to have more luck finding Totori or Rorona. Or the new one, which comes out next month.
