You'd think they would have been the first to jump on that bandwagon.

Music licensing. They had enough issues just getting Vice City onto PSN.

I don't have any evidence, but I swear I read something about Rockstar saying it would ruin the spirit of the original games, or something to that effect.

Why would they? They released all the games on PSN, and if you add them up they cost $35 (GTA3 $10, VC $10, SA $15). An HD collection costs $40, so they put pretty much no work into it and sell it for the same price. Yeah, they had to do the music licensing thing for them, and port them to the PSN. But I still feel like it's a rip off. Look at the MGS Collection. You get three games that were optimized for HD TVs for $40. So you can get that, or get three PS2 games that still look bad on HD TVs for $35. What's the better deal? Even if you don't like MGS, you have to admit that you get more bang for your buck. But I'd rather have them work on GTA5 instead of an HD collection.

Seeing as HD collections have multiple games in the series a GTA collection would have to be with gta 3 vice and san andreas. SInce they are big open world games Upgrading the textures and such would cost a lot of money.

Why waste resources making an HD collection that sells for $40 when you can sell the originals that have 0 costs for $15 each or $45 total?
