Today, I shed a single tear.

After 6 years, my 60gb PS3 has finally bit the bullet. I can't say I'm surprised, over the past year the fan had gotten pretty loud (signaling to me a lot of dust built up in the fan or the thermal paste may have finally worn out) and I figured it was only a matter of time. It's a sad day, because I've had a ton of fun with this thing, from playing PS2 games on it when there were very few games on it, to now when there were and are a ton of excellent Sony exclusives and multiplatform games.

I can't even get my Sly HD collection out of it now, I was loving it too. Sly 4 was so close! :/ Sly 4, Ni No Kuni, God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us, and Metal Gear: Ground Zeroes, are pretty much the last exclusives I was really looking forward to. Oh well, I just hope that the PS4 is backward compatible despite several reports speculating that it won't be.

I'll also try fixing it myself, I was able to repair my 360 when it RRoD last year with the help of a friend and Arctic Silver. Make sure you guys appreciate your time with your consoles, you never know when these things could happen.

This. As soon as I save up some money, I'm gonna send mine in to get repaired.

While it's getting repaired you should start saving up again for when you send it in again 6 months later.

I won't send it into Sony, paying $110 this late in the cycle just doesn't seem worth it to me. I'll try to fix it on my own, if that doesn't work I guess I'll just borrow a friend's PS3. (I'll lend him my 360)

To the guy who said "first world problems" Yes, this is a first world problem. Nearly every blogfaqs topic on Gamefaqs (like why is Aliens terrible or why is Jak and Daxter too hard, etc) is a first world problem topic, so I don't quite understand why you have the need to point that out.

To everyone else, thanks for your condolences. I understand that losing a console is a very minor thing and I just wrote my original post as an exaggerated tongue in cheek topic.
