Kotaku: Sega, Where The Hell Is Yakuza 5?

Kotaku was bashing Yakuza 5 just a few weeks ago, making stupid complains that doesn't even make sense, and now they are basically begging Sega to localize the game? They clearly doesn't care and are just looking for hits on their articles.

You realize Kotaku doesn't consist of just one person, right? Richard Eisenbeis was the one that had bashed Yakuza 5, Luke Plunkett is the one hoping for a localization. It's possible that Luke wanted to counterbalance the previous negative article with his own positive disposition. Even if they are just doing it for the hits, at least the Yakuza series is getting some much needed exposure.

Who cares? Kotaku is an embarrassment to journalism.

Sega pretty much wrote a book on how to alienate their costumers... unnecessary edits, system abandonment and etc.

I would even take Skies of Arcadia HD remake...but only disc version(got the Dreamcast and Gamecube versions).

This happens every time a Yakuza game comes out. I'm sure it'll come out eventually.

Not really.

Sega recently closed some of their US/EU offices, including the ones responsible for localizing the previous PS3 Yakuza games. Also, while the sales for Yakuza 3 were decent, both Yakuza 4 and Dead Souls sold poorly. On top of that, the PS3 is nearing the end of its life with the PS4 right around the corner.

Why don't they add English text option to the Japanese version so everyone can import and not to go through all that licensing and marketing stuff ? Would just a text translation be that costly to a big publisher ?

Script is usually done before everything else in the game , so if they decided to add English text early in the project they can do it on time before they finish the game , translation is done by different ppl than the main developers .

It's not like Yakuza 4 had English voices or something , it's just the text.
