Why the hell do they make you update things you downloaded 1 minute ago?

I'd understand disk game updates but when you download a game/app and it immediately asks you to download a damn update... UGH!!, why can't they just patch the file they already have?

Because it's easier said than done. Messing with the core code isn't the same as adding code to it.

I dunno, why wouldn't they just load up pre-patched binaries?

It'd save a lot of futzing around.

Because every game you download is always version 1.0

And sometimes theres a VERY good reason for not wanting to patch to 1.1 or 1.2 if it made things worse

Because they'd have to reupload the game every time a patch is out and pay to do so?

They pay to upload the patch if that is the case. So for updates they should get paid the same as a patch

I HATE game updates on this system. Actual games download fine, but a 24MB update takes 20 minutes. I've called my ISP, and they blame Sony. I've called Sony, and they blame my ISP. It took me 2 hours to download Borderlands an all it's expansions, yet it took an hour to download an update for Netflix.
