I didn't really like bayonetta.

I mean yea it's better than DmC or Ninja Gaiden 3, but i don;t think it's the best action game of this generation.

-The cutscenes are really boring, and the story sucks. I mean dmc4 has a bad story, but atleast the cutscenes were fun to watch...and they were short.
-The bosses look cool, but most of them are....eh. The final boss was disappointing.
-The Shoot em up and racing stages were stupid. They were pretty much unnecessary. I mean Jeanne was such a great boss. But I just didn't want to do the stupid shoot em up stage just to fight her again.
-Combat doesn't feel satisfying.
-Stupid "Dodge the statue's to slow down time" BS
-Most of the weapons weren't really fun to use. And getting them are a pain in the ass.
-You can't choose when to use the revival item, making it pretty much useless.
-The QTE's are unfair.

Bayonetta suffered because it was multiplatform. Its been stated many times if it was a PS3 exclusive the game would be much more advanced.

Bayonetta >>> God of War III. The game had style and an awesome soundtrack. The main protagonist was a hot sassy chick compared to an angry whiny crybaby such as Kratos. On top of that Bayonetta was much more fun to play.

I disagree with you on everything but the QTEs. I would go as far as to say that I've never had a more satisfying experience with combat in a game before. It makes you feel like you're in control of everything, and when you mess up, it's entirely your fault. Best of all, you can feel yourself improving as you play, and it feels completely natural. The difficulty was just right. The game kicked your ass until you learned from your mistakes, and then it felt rewarding once you got better.

I loved the story. It's not meant to be taken seriously, and you can tell the writers were having fun with it. The characters were all great, and the dialogue was always witty and interesting. The references made to other Platinum Games/Clover Studios titles, as well as Capcom stuff, made me smile every time.

One of my favorite games of this generation.

Heck, I'd even go as far to say that the a few of the QTEs during boss fights were actually well done. I mean, freaking missile/satellite tennis. Head butting a sky-scraper. Those QTEs actually made me smile every time I pulled them off.

That's kinda hard to answer.

In my opinion, I think these action games were better than Bayonetta

-DMC4
-God of war 3
-Vanquish
-Batman AC

And possibly MGR: Revengeance
