Got the YLOD just a few moments ago. I knew it was coming, but it doesn't make it any easier. I'm just glad I updated my trophies and uploaded all my saves to PS+ beforehand. Gah, I just don't want to have to buy another PS3. I was just about to replace the thermal paste again, but I guess it was inevitable.

Well, I guess I should take it apart to get my Ni no Kuni disc back and see how bad the motherboard is cracked. Blargh.

No clue why you people hold on to those pieces of crap. I had a 60gb myself, it's lens died 8 months in and then I traded it in for the backwards compatible 80gb Motorstorm bundle. That one ylod'd on me. Fat PS3's = garbage, period.

Unfortunate that you'll have to open the bluray drive, it's easy to screw it up when opening it and had the disc not been in there, you could've sold it for an easy $70-$90, which can help with a new PS3 purchase.

This is my first YLOD, so it's not like I've gone through a bunch of fat PS3s. I'm just happy it lasted this long. I'm gonna' try to attempt a minor repair to get it back up long enough to just get the disc out normally, and then I'll probably part it out in Akihabara while I grab a new one. It was very convenient having it for PS2 use as well, but I might just bite the bullet and get a slim. Can't decide yet.

The original NES is pretty terrible but the NES top loader is amazing.
