In your opinion, what RPG has the best battle gameplay?
Unfortunately, the poll options are limited to 10 so I had to bundle a few games together and leave some games out, but if you vote in a category with 2 games, you can post to specify which game you wanted to vote for, same thing for the "Other" category.

The Tales games have always had the best battle systems, but I didn't care for Graces F that much. ToV had a battle system much closer to TotA and ToS, and I've never had more fun than with those systems.

For classic J-RPG game play, then Lost Odyssey

Fallout new vegas, mass effect 1, grandia, the world ends with you and xenoblade are my faves. The Last Story is also moving in the right direction

Toss-up between a few:

-Phantasy Star 4 had a pretty cool feature in its battle system where up to your whole party of five people could join together for a single massive combo attack.

-Xenoblade Chronicles had an open-world real-time battle system that I think was unique in that healing skills and such didn't use MP or had to be "stocked" - each had a cooldown before you could use them again, and you could do whole-chain attacks. Add to that the whole "encouragement" thing and it overall is pretty neat for a battle system.

-Xenogears / Xenosaga had a neat system using different level attacks and having the ability to use certain combos and such. Not a fan of Xenosaga II's "A-B-C Zone" system, though.

-Fallout. I liked being able to target individual body parts if I needed to do a specific thing to my enemies - impair their movement or attack, frenzy them, or whatever else I need.
