KoroshiyaZeroPosted 2/21/2013 3:30:28 AM | Launch 60GB. No issues. When I watched the press conference for PS4 I looked at my PS3 and reflected on how much I have gotten out of it. Years of entertainment and about half a dozen moves (some internationally) and my 60GB keeps on ticking. I don't think I have ever seen another machine get this much use over an extended period of time and still work flawlessly. |

Never had a system die on me, with the exception of the NES..... which for some reason was already dead out of the box (dont know if that counts XD). |

jm1118Posted 2/21/2013 7:21:49 AM | The only PS3 I've ever had is the 60 GB launch unit I purchased back in 2006. I've never had any issues with it until recently when it started having some issues recognizing Blu-ray movies every once in a while.
Found a new laser and lens on Ebay for about 40 bucks and it was easy to switch out. After 6 years it was pretty dusty inside! I already had it mostly apart, so I just dismantled it completely and cleaned it out and applied new thermal paste for good measure.
Now I'm just hoping it keeps up the good fight until I can retire it for the PS4!
Edit: I forgot I also have the Metal Gear Solid 4 Gun Metal PS3 bundle but that was just for collector's sake and is buried somewhere in the vault so I guess it doesn't really count. I can't remember what the specifications were for that model of PS3. |
