See, that would be a bit of a snag. Damaged hardware, is damaged. If you got the YLOD and replaced the thermal paste, it wouldn't do a thing for it. It's a preventative thing.
But yes, the fat console is somewhat louder, but since I fixed up the compound (for the second time, and correctly), it only goes one speed above the standard quiet speed. That, and I play my games loud.
